What To Expect When You Visit

What To Expect When You Visit

The Church of Christ of Flagler County is a visitor-friendly congregation and looks forward to your visit.  You will be welcomed and will not be singled out or embarrassed in any way.

Our worship service is considered traditional for churches of Christ as patterned in the New Testament. We strive to worship God in Spirit and Truth.  We will only use New Testament principles as our guide for worship.

During the worship service, some of the men will lead the congregation in public prayers. Acts 2:42 says, "And they continued steadfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in the breaking of bread, and in prayers."

We will sing several songs and hymns together, led by one or more song leaders. These will be sung a cappella (without the accompaniment of musical instruments). We sing in this manner because it follows the authorized pattern of the first-century church.

The Lord's Supper

We partake of the Lord's Supper each Sunday, following the pattern of the first-century church. Acts 20:7 says, "And upon the first day of the week, when the disciples came together to break bread, Paul preached unto them, ready to depart on the morrow; and continued his speech until midnight." In partaking of the Lord's Supper we remember the Lord's death until He comes again.  At this time, we ask everyone partaking in the Lord's Supper to pick up a communion kit as they enter the auditorium.

We give a donation for the work of the church each first day of the week, realizing that God has richly blessed each of us. The church does many good works that require financial support including local, domestic, and foreign missions. We do not expect that our visitors donate. You honor us by choosing to worship with us.

Bible Study (preaching/teaching)

We engage in Bible study, primarily through the preaching of the Word, but also through Bible reading and direct teaching.  At the close of the sermon, an invitation will be extended to any who wish to respond in obedience to the Gospel of Jesus Christ and to request prayers of the congregation.

Our congregation Is not affiliated with the UNITED CHURCH OF CHRIST; THE CHURCH OF CHRIST OF THE LATTER DAY SAINTS or any other religious organization.  We are autonomous with a plurality of elders as our only organization leadership.

*There is one God, eternally existent in three persons; Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit;

*The Holy Bible, and only the Bible, is the authoritative Word of God.  It alone is the final authority for determining all doctrinal truths;

*Salvation is a gift from God, not as a result of our good works or of any human effort.  We are saved by grace through faith in Jesus Christ;

*To be a Christian; you must hear the Word, believe it, confess that you believe Christ is the Son of God, repent of your sins, be baptized (by immersion) and live the Christian life as defined in Scripture beginning in the book of Acts in the New Testament;

*The Church is the Body of Christ, made up of all identified above. Every Christian is an integral part of the Church;

*Worship assemby is on every first day of the week (Sunday) for communion, to remember the death, burial and resurrection of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ by taking the bread (His Body) and the fruit of the vine; (His Blood)

 *Jesus Christ will physically and visibly return to earth for the second time and the dead in Christ will rise first.  Christians, still alive, will meet the Lord in the air and be with Him forever; (final judgment)

Heaven is the eternal dwelling place for all baptized believers in the gospel of Jesus Christ.

 * After living one life on earth, unbelievers will be judged by God and sent to hell where  they will be eternally tormented with the devil and the fallen angels.

In the world today, many believe that certain sins listed in the Bible are not applicable.  The Church of Christ of Flagler County in Bunnell believes that all sins listed in the New Testament was sin thenis now and will be in the future, to include:  Equal marriage rights (same sex marriages) for all people, regardless of gender; practicing homosexuals/lesbians; abortionsuicidecom-promising the Word of God to gain attendance and any violation of God’s instruction given within the new law.  However, God in His infinite wisdom has given a definitespecific, and continual path through Christ’s sacrifice for the sinner in all of us to be redeemedsanctified, and justified resulting in a true child of His.

We are a loving congregation of the Lord that fellowships together; meets on the first day of every week and offers Bible study classes on Wednesday and Thursday nights.

We meet every Sunday morning for Bible classes and  for our worship assembly which includes: a cappella singing, praying, reading Scripture, communion, (Lord’s Supper) and minister’s message.

Come visit and talk to our elders about the status of your soul.
